2. Honey

Basically honey is a thick liquid which helps in cough suppression and relaxes your throat muscles.  Also, it heals the wounds in the inner wall of the throat.

You can have 1 teaspoon of honey twice a day to treat a sore throat. Otherwise, you can add one tablespoon of honey in your tea or warm water than have 2 to 3 times a day.

3. Peppermint


Peppermint is a popular mouth freshener. Other than this it has medicinal effects also. Like antiinflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. You can use dilute peppermint oil sprays. Besides, peppermint contains menthol which calms the throat muscle and suppresses coughs. Also, soften the mucus and make it easy to take out.

Always use such oils in the diluted form so for peppermint oil, take five drops of peppermint oil in 30ml of essential oil 30 ml of any other carrier oil.

4. Licorice root


Licorice is herb also known as Mulethi in Hindi. It has muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory effects that actually required in a sore throat to calm uneasiness of throat. You can take it by adding a little amount of it in warm water and then gargle. Don’t take too much quantity of Licorice because it causes anxiety.

5. Ginger extract


Ginger has antitussive, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Because of this, it relaxes the throat tissues, kills bacteria and lowers the inflammation.

You can take a piece of ginger and chew or just have strong ginger tea. The warmness of tea also relaxes the throat.

6. Tea


Different herbal teas are used for quick relief from a sore throat. The tea itself has muscle relaxant properties. Clove and green tea has an antibacterial and antioxidant effect. Ginger and clove in tea is also a good home remedy for a sore throat.

Chamomile tea is also a natural lubricant and if you have a sore throat which is not allowing you to talk than chamomile tea is one of the best choices.

7. Apple cider vinegar
